Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities
In 2006, Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities joined forces with All Stars to maximize the impact of their programs. All Stars provides the back-end support for PESC, which helps lower overhead costs. This means more money can go back into the Dallas community in the form of grants. By harnessing the power of All Stars, and the influence of PESC, the organizations are poised to transform the lives of disadvantaged children in Dallas and beyond.
About Emmitt Smith
Emmitt was drafted by the Cowboys in the first round of the 1990 draft. Over the next twelve years Emmitt was able to help lead the Cowboys to three Super Bowl Championships, lead the NFL in rushing four times, was the league MVP in 1993, MVP of Super Bowl XXVIII and made eight Pro Bowl appearances. Emmitt was the first player in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards in 11 consecutive seasons and on October 27, 2002 he surpassed Walter Payton’s All-Time Leading Rushing Record of 16,726 yards and became the NFL’s All-Time Leading Rusher. Emmitt finished his career with the Arizona Cardinals playing the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
About Pat Smith
Pat is a wife, mother, former actress, broadcast journalist/TV host and former beauty queen known for her dedication to church, civic and community activities. She was the first black woman to win the title of Miss Virginia USA and was first runner-up at the Miss USA Pageant in 1994. Her television career includes host of Keep the Faith, recurring roles and guest appearances on such primetime hits as Beverly Hills 90210, Sunset Beach and The Wayans Brothers Show. She is currently the President of Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities, and is also involved with battered women's shelters, breast cancer initiatives and education and scholarship programs for children.
