The 555 California Street Tree Lighting Ceremony will be teaming with dozens of celebrity chefs and vintners on November 29th for the inaugural All Star Holiday Culinary Kickoff, a benefit for families affected by the Northern California fires. In an effort to support those impacted by the fires, NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott’s All Stars Helping Kids will distribute 100 percent of the event’s ticket sales to Northern California fire relief efforts through grants provided by the foundation’s Fire Zone Relief Project.
The festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. and feature appearances by sports celebrities and tasting selections from top Bay Area chefs and vintners. Tickets are on sale now for $249. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
“Families in Northern California are suffering from the recent fires, and will need extra-special support this holiday season to recover from such devastating loss and trauma,” says Ronnie Lott. “This event is an opportunity for us to all come together and help those affected by this tragedy. We hope that you’ll join us on November 29th in celebrating what makes our Bay Area community so great—its incredible spirit of giving.”
A prestigious line-up of Bay Area culinary legends will be on hand for the celebration, including Jason Halverson, Michael Mina, Dominic Orsini, Thomas Rhodes, and more. Wines being poured will include The Calling Wine, Casa Piena, Charles Woodson Wines, Correlation Wine Company, Durant & Booth, Far Niente Winery, Foley Estates Vineyard & Winery, Greg Norman Estates, Hale Mary Wine, John Elway’s Reserve by 7 Cellars, La Pitchoune Winery, Mirror Napa Valley, Nickel & Nickel Winery, ONEHOPE Wine, Poggi Wines, Pride Mountain Vineyards, Silver Oak Cellars, Twomey Cellars, Vineyard 7 & 8, Williams Selyem, The Withers Winery, and more. Spirits at the event will include Revel Spirits, Distillery No. 209, and more.
As one of San Francisco’s largest family holiday events, the 555 California Street Tree Lighting Ceremony will feature one of the tallest trees in the region throughout the holiday season. This year’s white fir tree from Shasta County is over 80 feet tall, weighs over six tons and will be covered in nearly 200,000 lights, more than six times the amount of any other holiday tree in the region. Vornado Realty Trust, a New York-based real estate investments trust (REIT), reinstated the event in 2007 when it acquired the iconic building.
While this year marks Vornado Realty Trust’s 11th year hosting the event, the holiday tree at 555 California Street has been a seasonal staple going back decades. Since 1990, the holiday tree has been erected and maintained by ALLBAY Landscaping, a family-owned commercial landscape company located in Half Moon Bay. In the 25 years ALLBAY has maintained the holiday tree, the tree has nearly doubled in size.
After the holidays, the 555 California Street tree will be recycled locally. The greenery and branches will be mulched for landscaping while the tree trunk will be sent to an East Bay mill so Vornado Realty Trust can donate the lumber to a local community building organization.
Sponsors of this year’s event include Boudin Bakery, The Caviar Co., CBRE, Champion Charities, Chef Carlo Cavallo Catering, Chegg, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, KFOG, KNBR, KSAN The Bone, KNTV NBC Bay Area, Lagunitas Brewing Co., Made in the Shade Tent Rentals, Omni Hotel and Resorts San Francisco, San Francisco Business Times, S.Pellegrino, and Supercell.
