How He's in the Game

Yankees Pitcher CC Sabathia has always gone the extra mile to help others in need. In addition to his service work on behalf of the Yankees organization, he’s seized the opportunity to use his celebrity status to affect change for the underprivileged. Along with his wife and mother he created the PitCCh In Foundation, which is dedicated to enriching the lives of inner city youth, raising their self-esteem through educational and athletic activities. Working in the New York area and CC’s hometown, Vallejo, California, the foundation supports organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The Omega Boys and Girls Club, and Strikeouts for Troops.

CC credits his parents for instilling within him a commitment to service, saying, “I’ve taken that to heart and try to live my life in a way that kids can look up to and learn from and that other adults can appreciate.”

About CC Sabathia

In addition to winning the 2007 American League Cy Young Award, CC has been a four time All-Star selection during the course of his career. He was also the American League Championship Series MVP in 2009, helping to lead his team to a World Series title. He and his wife have 2 sons and 2 daughters and they currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.
