How He's in the Game
Dwayne De Rosario is a classic example of an athlete channeling his professional success and celebrity into positive outcomes for the less fortunate. During a trip to Mali in 2007, Dwayne and his wife visited villages and health clinics throughout the region to distribute life-saving bed nets. While in West Africa, he also seized the opportunity to lead soccer clinics for the local children. In the years following this transformative journey, Dwayne has continued to ramp up his level of participation in the international campaign for malaria prevention, partnering with an array of organizations to educate people throughout North America.
In addition to his work abroad, Dwayne is also committed serving the youth of his hometown, Scarborough, Ontario. In order to develop young players and productive citizens, he founded the De Ro Futbol Clinic for children of ages 5 to 16. While the camp’s curriculum is soccer-focused, it also stresses the development of life-skills, including elements such as money management. “Although there is a tremendous amount of opportunity available in today’s society, the reality is however, that these opportunities are not accessible to all,” he says, “I aim to provide people with a feeling of hope and stability.”
About Dwayne De Rosario
