How He's in the Game

A native of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Garcia has not forgotten his humble beginnings. In addition to traveling home each off-season to work with youth, he has also made a special effort to connect with the Latino community in Sacramento. He donates home game tickets and t-shirts for a special section of the arena dubbed “La Casa de Garcia.” He also personally distributes packages of food to underprivileged Latino families during the holiday season. In addition to his hands-on work, he aims to stay in constant contact with his fans through his Twitter account, @cisco32.

Upon hearing the news of the earthquake in Haiti, Francisco initiated a program to donate money to the relief effort based upon the level of attendance at a Kings home game. He convinced six other teammates to match his own personal donation and together, they were able to give almost $40,000. With this record of service, Francisco has demonstrated that he is just as valuable to his community as he is to the Kings roster.

About Francisco Garcia

After leading the Louisville Cardinals to the Final Four during his junior year, Francisco Garcia was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft. He plays both guard and forward for the Kings and is currently their longest-tenured player.
