How He's in the Game
CJ Wilson has supported numerous organizations and programs in and around the Fort Worth area. He has worked with the Texas Hemophilia Camp, CookChildren’s Hospital, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, and Families of Soldiers in Fort Hood. He sponsored an event inspired by the game Guitar Hero, which raised over $52,000 over the last three years.
Wilson works with D.A.R.E.during the offseasons, speaking to children about drug use. Wilson has pledged not to drink or take drugs in his life and says he believes people need to make their own decisions instead of bowing to peer pressure. Wilson hopes his work in the community will have a major impact on the children there.
When visiting CookChildren’s Hospital during the annual Texas Rangers’ holiday visit, Wilson was inspired by a young man who was ecstatic to finally meet his idols. During this visit, Wilson saw firsthand what the children had to go through and he felt an obligation to help them in some way. This is when he came up with the idea for C.J.Wilson Children’s Charity, which helps chronically ill children get through each day a little easier.
