Playing For 34 Ways to Assist

How He's in the Game

In his hometown Milwaukee, WI, Devin Harris teamed up with Milwaukee Recreation to create the Devin Harris Playground League. The league provides a supervised, organized, indoor place for children to play. Devin also hosts his annual free basketball camp for underprivileged children, which is now in its fourth year. It serves more than 300 children each year. In addition to this camp, this year 200 “littles” will attend a free one day camp in Madison, WI, for Big Brothers Big Sisters. He has also started his own foundation, the 34 Ways to Assist Foundation, which will help kids emotional mentoring and promote "healthy living through sports and physical activity." Harris also supports Outlook University Charter School, an annual partner that holds classes during his summer camp. The children participate in activities, and are encouraged to work as hard in the classroom as they do on the court.

Harris feels that the privilege of being a professional athlete comes with heightened responsibility and expectations. Giving back to the communities that have supported him is just one of the ways that he can do his part. He is most passionate about children and their basic needs. He wants to contribute whatever time he can to helping them have a chance at good health, strong role models, and a promising future. Devin wants his off-court work to be as memorable as his work on the court. In addition to his charitable efforts in his hometown, Devin has and will continue to be a constant and strong presence in the NJ community through his various community initiatives.
