How He's in the Game
Robert William "R.W." McQuarters founded the R.W. McQuarters (NITT) Foundation, which services the community by helping the homeless with utility and telephone bills, bus tokens for travelling, and food vouchers. In December 2008, he developed a partnership with First Book to promote literacy for disadvantaged youth. During the first event in Dallas, the McQuarters Foundation purchased 300 Katie and the Magic Umbrella books and worked with Channel 8 weather anchor Kristine Kahanek to encourage young girls to study science. In December 2008, his foundation launched The Green Affair, an event to educate the Giants and the community on the importance of caring for the environment for future generations.
In July, McQuarters will participate in a golf tournament that benefits the new "City House" in Collin County. This wonderful partnership helps both foundations reach out to at-risk youth.
McQuarters feels that it is his obligation to give his time and money to help improve his community. He feels he can do this by encouraging hope and showing dedication to the young, helping to pave the way for them to make the right choices. He wants to leave a legacy of literacy through education and reading, and inspire youth to take care of the planet.
